Obituary for Janet Lee Evans

Janet Lee Evans passed away at Kirksville Manor Care Center on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

She was born in Columbia, MO on June 22, 1966, the beloved daughter of Earl Evans, Jr., and Anna Virginia (Helmka) Evans.

Janet was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, parents, brother Maurice Evans, and her brother-in-law, George Graces.

Surviving her are sisters Gale Graces of Denville, NJ, Karen Thomas (Carroll) of Green Castle, MO., brother Paul Evans (Cathy) of Blue Springs, MO., and several much loved nieces and nephews.

Janet attended University of MO - Columbia and Truman University. She was a pharmacy technician until her retirement due to ill health.

She never met a book that she didn’t want to read and held a very wide range of knowledge. She was a writer, particularly of poetry and songs. She loved music and had a great collection of her favorite rock band, The Cars. She was also an astute shopper, always on the lookout for a bargain and never failed to find a treasure at a flea market. She had a kind and generous spirit and was a lover of animals and nature.

It was Janet’s wish for a simple eco-friendly cremation with a private service for the family at a later date.
